Kenyan landlords were losing time to manual rent chasing, scattered WhatsApp conversations, spreadsheet records, weak payment visibility, and unstructured maintenance follow-up. Existing tools did not treat M-Pesa reconciliation as a core operational requirement.

One reliable property workflow.

Kodara connects a landlord dashboard with a mobile-first tenant experience. It handles properties, units, tenancies, M-Pesa STK Push payments, real-time balances, unmatched-payment reconciliation, and maintenance requests with full status history.

03 / Engineering approach

Small in scope, serious in reliability.

The system follows a strict Landlord → Property → Unit → Tenancy data model. PostgreSQL Row Level Security isolates every account, Edge Functions protect M-Pesa operations, idempotency prevents duplicate payments, and failed matches enter a resolvable queue instead of becoming lost transactions.

Final product

A working rent-management system built around Kenyan reality.

Landlords can manage their property hierarchy and follow payments or maintenance in real time. Tenants can see balances, initiate M-Pesa payments, review payment history, and track maintenance without relying on manual follow-up.
